CFM = 14000
HP = 5.5
The RCU24 5.5HP delivers 14,000 CFM — a 21% increase over the 3HP variant within the same 24-inch housing — making it the high-capacity rooftop option for large industrial exhaust points, multi-floor commercial building smoke extract risers, and large-scale catering facilities where peak exhaust demand consistently exceeds 12,000 CFM. The 5.5 HP motor drives the 24-inch impeller to its highest efficient operating point to achieve this output.
At 14,000 CFM and 5.5 HP, the RCU24 5.5HP is suited for rooftop exhaust applications where the load cannot be met by a single 2HP or 3HP unit without parallel installation. A single RCU24 5.5HP replaces two RCU16 units (2 × 5,800 CFM = 11,600 CFM) on a shared riser, simplifying the rooftop equipment layout and reducing the number of roof penetrations required. Typical applications include central extract for large hospital kitchen complexes, convention centre kitchen exhaust with multiple cooking lines operating simultaneously, industrial food processing roof extract points, and smoke exhaust systems in high-rise buildings requiring large-volume extraction from upper floors.
The 572°F maximum operating temperature in the enhanced configuration qualifies the RCU24 5.5HP for smoke control system designation under the same conditions as the rest of the RCU series, allowing it to fulfill dual service as a ventilation and smoke exhaust fan — eliminating the need for a dedicated smoke fan on large rooftop installations where the capital cost of maintaining two separate units is significant.
For applications where 11,600 CFM is sufficient, the RCU24 3HP provides the same 24-inch footprint at lower operating cost. When exhaust demand exceeds 15,000 CFM and a single-unit solution is required, the RCU32 (17,000 CFM, 7.5 HP) is the final step in the range.
