The CBA8 is an 8-inch centrifugal utility exhaust fan delivering 3,000 CFM at 0.75 HP, built on a full-welded powder-coated steel housing with concentric mount bearings rated for the highest cataloged bearing life in its class. Unlike axial inline fans, the centrifugal impeller design generates higher static pressure at this CFM, making the CBA8 the correct choice for exhaust systems with significant duct resistance — long runs, multiple bends, or in-line filters.
The centrifugal blower design fundamentally differs from the axial fans in the RCU and CHA series: where axial fans move large volumes of air at low static pressure, the CBA centrifugal impeller maintains its airflow performance as duct resistance increases. At 3,000 CFM and 0.75 HP, the CBA8 is suited for applications where the exhaust path includes grease filters in a kitchen hood, activated carbon filters in an odour control system, long horizontal duct runs in a commercial building’s ceiling void, or fume cupboard exhaust in a laboratory where the internal resistance of the fume cupboard itself adds to the system’s total static pressure requirement.
The electrostatically applied and baked powder coating provides corrosion resistance for indoor environments with humidity, grease vapour, or mild chemical exposure — conditions that would degrade an untreated galvanised steel housing over time. The concentric mount bearings are a key reliability feature at this price point: they maintain shaft alignment under the sustained vibration loads of continuous commercial operation, extending bearing service life beyond what standard off-the-shelf fan bearings achieve.
For lower-resistance applications where 3,000 CFM is sufficient without the centrifugal pressure advantage, the CHA10 inline fan (3,600 CFM, 1.5 HP) offers a compact duct-mounted alternative. When the application requires more than 3,000 CFM at high static pressure, the CBA10 (3,500 CFM, 1 HP) is the next step in the centrifugal range.
