The RCU32 is the largest unit in the upblast roof exhaust range, delivering 17,000 CFM through a 32-inch aluminum alloy body at 7.5 HP. It addresses the highest exhaust volume requirements in the RCU series — large industrial facilities, major hotel and convention centre kitchen complexes, and high-rise building smoke exhaust systems where no smaller single unit can meet the design airflow specification.

At 17,000 CFM, the RCU32 handles rooftop exhaust volumes that would otherwise require two or more large-capacity units operating in parallel on a shared riser. Single-unit installation at this scale simplifies controls, reduces maintenance complexity, and eliminates the airflow balancing challenges that arise when multiple fans share a common duct. Applications include centralised kitchen extract for large-scale food service operations serving 500 or more covers per service, heavy industrial roof exhaust points for factories with continuous high-temperature process emissions, and smoke extract systems in commercial towers where the fire engineer has specified a single high-volume roof termination unit to serve a large compartment.

The 7.5 HP motor and 32-inch impeller represent the ceiling of the RCU aluminum alloy platform’s capacity. The 572°F enhanced temperature rating — available across the full RCU range — is particularly significant at this scale: smoke exhaust systems in large buildings must sustain high extraction volumes for extended periods, and the RCU32’s aluminum alloy construction tolerates the thermal conditions that would cause motor failure in a standard steel-bodied fan within minutes of a fire event starting.

For the majority of large commercial applications where 14,000 CFM is sufficient, the RCU24 5.5HP provides the same smoke fan certification and aluminum alloy construction at lower capital and operating cost. The RCU32 is the correct specification only when the design airflow genuinely requires the full 17,000 CFM from a single rooftop unit.
