The RCU14 provides 4,800 CFM of rooftop upblast exhaust at 1.5 HP, built on the same aluminum alloy platform as the full RCU series and rated for operation up to 572°F with the enhanced configuration. It targets medium commercial kitchens, light industrial roof exhaust points, and building smoke exhaust systems where the design airflow falls between 4,000 and 5,500 CFM.
At 4,800 CFM, the RCU14 comfortably ventilates commercial kitchens with three to four active cooking stations, rooftop exhaust points for food processing areas with sustained heat and grease output, and mechanical exhaust for enclosed parking structures on lower basement levels where a single rooftop fan serves the extract riser. The 572°F maximum working temperature — available with the upgraded configuration — makes the RCU14 a viable smoke control fan for mid-size commercial buildings where the fire strategy requires sustained exhaust operation well beyond the temperatures a standard fan can tolerate.
The choice between direct drive and belt drive is particularly relevant at this capacity: direct drive is simpler and requires less maintenance for constant-speed applications, while belt drive allows the fan speed to be adjusted post-installation if the duct system’s measured resistance differs from the design estimate — a common situation in retrofit projects where the existing duct layout introduces unexpected pressure drops.
For exhaust requirements between 3,000 and 4,500 CFM, the RCU10 (3,000 CFM, 1 HP) is the appropriate smaller unit. When the design airflow exceeds 5,500 CFM, the RCU16 (5,800 CFM, 2 HP) provides the next capacity tier.
