The RCU10 moves 3,000 CFM through a 10-inch aluminum alloy upblast housing using a 1 HP motor, with a high-temperature rating that allows it to function as a smoke exhaust fan in emergency ventilation scenarios. It is suited for rooftop exhaust on small-to-medium commercial kitchens, medical clinic mechanical rooms, and laboratories where the exhaust airstream may carry heat, chemical vapors, or smoke at temperatures up to 320°F.
The RCU10’s smoke fan capability is the defining feature that separates it from general-purpose rooftop fans at this CFM range. A standard ventilation fan is not rated to operate continuously at elevated temperatures and will fail in a fire smoke extraction scenario; the RCU10’s aluminum alloy construction and IEC60335-certified motor cooling allow it to maintain operation under thermal stress. This makes it the correct choice for buildings where the mechanical engineer requires the rooftop exhaust unit to double as part of the smoke control strategy without installing a separate dedicated smoke fan.
At 3,000 CFM and 1 HP, the RCU10 serves commercial kitchens with two to three active cooking stations, roof-mounted extract points for laboratory fume cupboards, and mechanical room ventilation in mid-size commercial buildings. The 10-inch duct connection is a standard size that integrates directly with most commercial HVAC duct layouts without custom transitions.
When the exhaust load falls below 2,800 CFM, the RCU8 (2,500 CFM, 0.5 HP) handles the application at lower operating cost. For kitchens exceeding 3,500 CFM — or where the building’s smoke control design requires more extraction volume — the RCU14 (4,800 CFM, 1.5 HP) is the next model up.
